Hello everyone, after a long time we can finally meet again on this blog. First of all, I want to thank you for visiting my simple blog again.
Today is a special day, because in this article I use English. Maybe you are wondering the reason why I use English and the easiest answer is to complete one of the assignments given by my English lecturer, which is to write a blog about my experiences collaborating with other people in English.
With the aim of completing the task as well as increasing the number of visits to other articles on this blog, here I will summarize one of the big themes on this blog, namely IT Volunteer.
IT Volunteer is an activity that aims to invite IT activists in Indonesia and the world to make real and positive contributions to others and the world by volunteering. Where IT activists are invited to work together to build a healthy and quality digital climate in society.
My experience of participating in this activity occurred when I was doing an internship at BLC Telkom Klaten. What is quite unique about this internship is that there is a phase for doing IT Volunteering in villages and the place I went to was Towangsan, a village in Gantiwarno subdistrict, Klaten, Central Java, Indonesia.
In approximately 9 days, my teammates and I worked as IT volunteers. With the help of the Towangsan village community who are friendly and easy to work with, here is an outline that I can summarize in this blog article.
The first day was the day where we met with village officials with the aim of discussing the systems, facilities and infrastructure in the village as well as the village community's hopes for the results of this IT Volunteer activity. We also met with several members of the youth organization to seek support for the success of this activity in the future. And in the evening, there was an inauguration activity for village officials and we were introduced to the people of Towangsan village.
On the second day, our team was divided into several groups with different parts of work. I am part of the section that manages the village website with the aim of developing and improving the website pages that will be used by Towangsan village. The website was built with a CMS (Content Management System), namely OpenSID and WordPress. We are also building a hotspot portal that will be used for wifi at the Towangsan village hall.
On the third day, our team introduced the OpenSID application, which is a village information system, to Towangsan village officials. With SID it is hoped that it can help village governments in several ways, namely, village offices are more efficient and effective, village governments are more transparent and accountable, public services are better, and residents have better access to village information.
On the fourth day, we input data on Towangsan village residents into OpenSID with the aim of storing the data in a more secure and easily accessible system.
On the fifth day, we input data in the form of books into a website-based library management application with CMS, namely SLIMS (Senayan Library Management System). With SLIMS, we can manage and organize the books in the Towangsan village library so that it will make things easier for librarians in this village.
On the sixth and seventh day, we again provided information on the infrastructure we had built to the community in Towangsan village. We also shared how to use computers with elementary school students in Towangsan village. We again conducted counseling and created a blog for PKK or Family Welfare Empowerment in the village.
On the eighth and ninth day, we put the website we had built online on the internet. In it, we explain the potential that exists in Towangsan village. We also provided guidance to village communities and tested print-outs of correspondence from the OpenSID application.
I think that's enough to tell you about one of my many experiences collaborating with other people. Thank you for reading to the end, I hope to see you again.
